TORONTO -- Randy Carlyle had plenty of chances to hold his breath. Air Max 90 Prezzo Basso . At one point his Toronto Maple Leafs gave up the lead on a breakaway and another time had a power-play goal waved off. But when goaltender Jonathan Bernier stopped Reid Boucher in the shootout, the coach and players got a chance to exhale with a 3-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils Sunday night at Air Canada Centre that snapped their losing streak at four. "Well, we can breathe," Carlyle said. "Theres been a lot of gasping going on, and even in this game there was a lot of gasping going on (with) how tight it was. ... Hopefully this relieves a little bit of the stress thats involved for our hockey club." Plenty of stress had been building up for the Leafs (22-20-5), who hadnt won since the Winter Classic. They still have just two regulation victories in 26 games dating to Nov. 21 and arent yet back in a playoff spot, but the sound of their victory song -- "We Cant Stop" by Miley Cyrus -- brought with it some relief. "Well take any points we can get right now," defenceman Cody Franson said. "Weve had some tough bounces lately, and weve put in some efforts that couldve went either way, and fortunately tonight we were able to get a couple points due to a shootout. You try and manage your emotions with shootouts not getting too high, but for us its a little bit of weight off our shoulders." Bernier made 36 saves on 38 shots in regulation and overtime and stopped all three he faced in the shootout to do his part to end the skid. James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak had the Leafs goals, and van Riemsdyk scored in the shootout to beat a fatigued Devils team playing its third game in four nights. "I think under the circumstances, that team over theres desperate (and) we were coming in here short-handed and under a tough schedule," New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer said. "I thought we gave them everything they could handle. Theyre probably pretty fortunate they got two points and we feel a little bit robbed, but thats the game and weve got to pick up and move on to Montreal." Adam Henrique and Ryane Clowe scored for the Devils (19-19-9), who fell to 0-7 in shootouts this season. Jaromir Jagr, Clowe and Boucher were all unsuccessful this time. "The way weve been in shootouts, lets get it out," Henrique said with a laugh. "I mean, they try things with shootouts, I think everyone has different opinions on it." Opinions varied during the game, too, especially on the call by referee Ghislain Hebert that negated Bozaks power-play goal at 6:23 of the third period. Hebert ruled that van Riemsdyk interfered with Devils goaltender Cory Schneider. Carlyle said it was one of those plays it was hard to agree with the official after looking at it on the replay. Van Riemsdyk agreed. "I was very surprised," said van Riemsdyk, who scored his 17th goal of the season in the second period. "I looked at it after on video in between periods and Im still kind of wondering. He gave me his thought and I asked him if he could watch it after the game and maybe next time we have a game he can apologize or something because that was pretty brutal." It would have been Bozaks second of the night and eighth of the season. Instead, it represented another roadblock for the much-maligned Leafs to overcome. Carlyle estimated his team had 15 scoring chances leading up to that point. "For the next 12 minutes we didnt get any," he said. "So it just shows the mental state and how, I guess, fragile we were at that point." But the Leafs didnt cave. Earlier on in the night they withstood a 7-1 shot deficit and gave up a breakaway goal to Clowe -- his first of the season -- 27 seconds after van Riemsdyk scored to give them the lead. In managing to push the game to overtime and then a shootout, Toronto left things to chance. But players were happy to get tangible evidence of the improvement they saw in a loss at Washington on Friday night. "Our job is to win games," captain Dion Phaneuf said. "We know that the points just keep getting bigger and bigger, and I felt that we stuck with it tonight against a team that played very well." DeBoer was more than satisfied with his teams effort, saying players competed their butts off. "The shootout doesnt take away from the effort that we gave tonight," DeBoer said. Schneider, who made 23 saves on 25 shots, said it was a bit upsetting not to come away with the victory. On Saturday night, the Devils beat the Florida Panthers with two seconds remaining in overtime but couldnt pull off a similar trick against the Leafs. That wouldve been a crushing result for Torontos players, who needed something to go right. "We needed this bad," Bernier said. "We found a way. If thats what it takes to go into a shootout and get points and move on like this, it feels good for the confidence." NOTES -- Five Leafs players -- Bozak, winger Jerry DAmigo, defencemen Tim Gleason and Mark Fraser and goaltender James Reimer -- missed Sundays morning skate with illness. All but Fraser were in the lineup. ... Schneider started for the Devils despite making 29 saves in an overtime victory Saturday night at home. Coach Peter DeBoer said its "always a decision" because of franchise goaltender Martin Brodeur but elected to go with Schneider because of his strong performance against Florida. Nike Air Max Saldi . NEW YORK – Make it two in a row for the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium following Sundays grind-it-out, 5-4 victory, a monumental accomplishment when contrasted with the 17-game losing skid that ended with Saturdays win in the Bronx. Cheap Vans Sk8 Hi Shoes . Suddenly, after six weeks of bad baseball compounded by a rash of injuries to vital cogs like Brett Lawrie, Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind, the Blue Jays (56-50) are 7-3 out of the All-Star Break and have crucial series wins over the Red Sox (three out of four) and the Yankees (two out of three). The Blue Jays will travel by train to Boston on Sunday evening in preparation for a three-game series with the Red Sox. Regardless of the result of the Orioles-Mariners game in Seattle, the Blue Jays will wake up on Monday morning in sole possession of second place in the American League East and, perhaps more importantly, in sole possession of the lead for the American Leagues coveted second wild card spot. It wasnt pretty at times. The Jays blew leads of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 on Sunday but in a test-of-the-mettle type of game, the club went ahead for good when Dioner Navarro singled home Jose Bautista with two outs in the ninth. That the base hit came off Yankees closer David Robertson and combined with the fact that Bautista had stolen second to get into scoring position, it seemed a solid way to cap a solid weekend. Bautista wants his team to believe its good. "We need to sometimes have that swagger and that attitude that we are a good team," said Bautista. "At times when we lose a couple in a row, it seems like we lose it a little bit, lose that edge. Im not saying we dont compete, we dont show up on time and do our work and do our preparation. Were great about that but at times you can see it on the field and in the clubhouse, if we lose a couple in a row and theyre tough games, its like the energy goes down a little bit." Sanchez wins his first game Rookie Aaron Sanchez picked up his first career major league victory in Sundays win. He wasnt entirely satisfied. "Maybe not so much the way I would have liked it to have," said Sanchez of the way the win played out. "We score a run there in the eighth and I go back out there and for me, I need to do a better job of shutting that inning down so they dont have to fight for another one but those guys picked me up and its such an awesome feeling right now to get my first win, especially here in Yankee Stadium." Sanchez pitched a three-up, three-down seventh on three groundballs to preserve a 3-3 tie. After Colby Rasmus drew a walk and advanced two bases on a pickoff attempt throwing error by Yankees reliever Dellin Betances, Munenori Kawasakis sacrifice fly scored Rasmus to give Toronto a 4-3 lead in the eighth. Sanchez gave up a leadoff single to Brett Gardner in the eighth. Gardner advanced to second on a Derek Jeter sacrifice bunt and scored on a two-out single by Carlos Beltran. The game was tied 4-4. Sanchez was still the pitcher of record when the Blue Jays went ahead in the ninth. Casey Janssen worked a clean inning for his 16th save. Reimold returns One day after revealing publicly that Edwin Encarnacion isnt close to returning to the lineup due to a right quadriceps strain, the Blue Jays trimmed their bloated infirmary by one in welcoming back outfielder Nolan Reimold. Pitcher Esmil Rogers was designated for assignment to make room for Reimold on the active roster. "To get another position player up here," said manager John Gibbons, explaining the move. "Another right-handed bat instead of having eight bullpen guys." Reimold arrived at Yankee Stadium about two hours before Sundays game and wasnt in the starting lineup. Coming off a left calf strain suffered while running the bases in the July 11 game at Tampa Bay, Reimold wont be in the outfield for at least "a couple of days," according to Gibbons. He was available to pinch hit and will be used as a designated hitter. Expect to see him in Wednesdays starting lineup when the Jays face Red Sox ace lefthander Jon Lester. "Hes a good pitcher so itll be good to get back in there and compete again," said Reimold. Reimold was just getting settled with his new team when he was bitten by the injury bug. Its been a consistent theme throughout the 30-year-olds career. Hes had two major neck surgeries, spinal fusion. The second procedure was required to correct the first, which didnt take. The calf strain happened as he was running to third on a base hit. Hed never had a problem in that area before. "Its very frustrating," said Reimold. "But its behind me now. No issues; you know, get back at it again and start over." In four games with the Jays, his first big league games of the season after being picked up on waivers from the Orioles, Reimold showed flashes of the player the Blue Jays believe he can be. He had two hits, including a double, and three RBI in an 8-7 loss to the Angels in Anaheim. Rogers, who turns 29 on August 14, will be exposed to irrevocable waivers for the second time this season. While its likely he clears and is assigned, once again, to Triple-A Buffalo, the Blue Jays would be content for another team to take a flier on Rogers and pick up the remainder of his $1.85-million salary. Rogers played a significant role in Toronto last season, making 44 appearances, including 20 starts to cover for an injury-depleted rotation. He was initially shipped out in mid-May, following a series at Fenway Park. At the time, he led the entire staff with five home runs allowed. His regression isnt a story exclusive to Rogers. The Jays relief corps also has been burdened by down seasons from two 2013 All-Stars, Steve Delabar (now pitching for Buffalo) and Brett Cecil. What makes the Rogers situation hurt more is what general manager Alex Anthopoulos gave up to get him. Catcher Yan Gomes is a regular in Cleveland and Mike Aviles is a serviceable utility infielder. For the cash-strapped Blue Jays, Rogers salary is burdensome with ownership apparently unwilling to take on money in a midseason trade. Theres no timeline for Encarnacions return to the lineup after he suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from a right quadriceps strain, an injury sustained on July 5. In Encarnacions absence, Reimolds potentially potent righthanded bat will be a welcome addition to Gibbons lineup. Vans Old Skool White . Even without Tiger Woods, this Masters has a little bit of everything. Twenty-year-old Jordan Spieth is making quite a bid to become golfs youngest major champion in more than 80 years with three straight sub-par rounds in his Augusta National debut. Hell have to fend off 50-year-old Miguel Angel Jimenez and 54-year-old Fred Couples, both hoping to become the sports oldest major champion. And lets not forget Bubba Watson, who stumbled a bit on moving day but will go for his second green jacket in three years from the final group. Spieth, who last year became the youngest PGA tour winner since the Depression at age 19, shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday to share the lead with Watson. "This is the place Ive always dreamt about," said Spieth, who was 5 under for the tournament. "I thought it was a good fit for my game. So far, so good." He has a shot at becoming the youngest major winner since Tom Creavey, just a few months younger when he won the PGA Championship in 1931. Watson had four bogeys on the front side Saturday — twice as many as he had in the first two rounds combined — and slid back to an emboldened group of challengers with a 74. Hell go out in the last group with Spieth on Sunday. "Were pretty good friends," Watson said. "Its going to be fun. It will be interesting, but be fun. Hopefully one of us wins, if not me hopefully him." Matt Kuchar (68) and Jonax Blixt (71) were one shot back at 212. Jimenez (66) and Ricky Fowler (67) were another shot behind. Watson, the 2012 Masters champion, posted two rounds in the 60s to start the tournament, giving him a three-stroke lead and the largest 36-hole edge since Chad Campbell in 2006. By the time he made the turn in front of the historic clubhouse and that big oak tree, the edge was gone. He got it back with a birdie at the 10th, but a three-putt par at the par-5 13th kept things close, another par at the par-5 15th was a disappointment, and a bogey at the 16th left him staggering to the finish. It shaped up to be a wide-open Sunday with Woods on the sideline for the first time in his career, recovering from back surgery. Lee Westwood (70), Jim Furyk (72) and Thomas BBjorn (73) were all in the mix. Vans Old Skool Pink. And Couples did enough to hang around, managing a 73 that kept him within five strokes of the lead. Watson bogeyed the first hole, then struck a brilliant approach shot that rolled up about 5 feet from the flag to set up an eagle 3 at the second. That would be one of his few highlights. Jimenez posted the best round of the tournament thus far and matched the lowest score ever for a senior golfer at Augusta National. Ben Hogan was 54 when he shot 66 during the third round of the 1967 tournament, and Couples matched it at age 50 during the opening round in 2010. The Spaniard known as "The Mechanic" finished up with a par at the 18th about the time Watson was teeing off at the adjacent first hole, having sliced into a 10-shot deficit by taking advantage of warm, sunny conditions. There was barely a hint of the swirling breezes that can make Augusta so treacherous. Jimenez has never won a major championship but hes been a perennial contender, capturing a new generation of fans with his unique stretching routine before each round, his red ponytail, and his fondness for wine and cigars. "Just because you are 50 does not mean you cannot play golf," said Jimenez, one of six 50-and-older golfers to make the Masters cut. "Im still flexible. I hit the ball longer than ever." His wasnt the only new entry in the Masters record book. Gary Woodland matched the lowest score ever on the front nine with a 6-under 30, and actually got his score to 7 under with another birdie at the 10th. But the 29-year-old American couldnt keep it going through Amen Corner, where a bogey at the 11th and a double bogey on 12 stifled his momentum. Woodland struggled down the stretch and settled for a 69, which left him at 216. Mike Weir of Brights Grove, Ont., also struggled to a 79 and was well back at 8-over-par 224. Defending champion Adam Scott couldnt get anything going, his chances of becoming only the fourth back-to-back winner in Masters history fading away with an ugly 40 on the front side. He faced a six-stroke deficit heading to Sunday, a daunting challenge with so many players in between him and the lead. But plenty of others were ready to seize the spotlight. ' ' '
MINNEAPOLIS - Kevin Martins 37-point effort against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night just got even more impressive. Saints Jerseys 2021 .Martin played the final three and a half quarters of that game with a fractured wrist on his shooting hand, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced Friday hours before hosting San Antonio. He is out indefinitely.Martin injured his right wrist with 6:48 to play in the first quarter when he was fouled while shooting a 3-pointer. From that point on, Martin went on to score 34 points and make 6 of 9 3s in the 115-99 victory that snapped a five-game losing streak.Weve just got to come out and play with the guys we have, coach Flip Saunders said before the Wolves hosted the Spurs. It gives guys opportunities and weve just got to try to keep on improving individually and weve got to try to keep on improving as a team.Martin was actually a game-time decision that night after needing IV fluids while battling an illness for most of the day. He scored 34 in a defeat in Dallas that ended a six-game road trip and then got the Wolves off to a great start against the Knicks with 13 points in the first quarter.Martin is averaging 20.4 points and shooting 48.1 per cent on 3-pointers this season. The Wolves have not yet determined if Martin will need surgery to address the injury. Veteran Corey Brewer and youngster Shabazz Muhammad figure to get the bulk of the minutes in Martins place. The Wolves had just 10 healthy players for the game against the Spurs. NEWARK, N. China Jerseys Paypal .J. -- The Boston Bruins are not only threatening to run away with the Eastern Conference, they are challenging St. Louis for the NHLs best regular-season record. The Bruins rolled to their 10th straight victory Tuesday night, getting goals from Brad Marchand and Jarome Iginla in a 59-second span early in the second period in beating the slumping New Jersey Devils 4-2. The winning streak ties Anaheim for the NHLs longest this season and it has moved the Bruins (99 points) just two behind the idle Blues in the race for the Presidents Trophy. St. Louis has a game in hand. "Its been good," Bruins coach Claude Julien said after the team posted its third 10-game winning streak since he took over as coach in 2007-08. "Our guys just keep believing and doing the right things," he added. "Thats given us the opportunity to win." The right thing for the Bruins was their response after Patrik Elias scored for New Jersey with a two-man advantage just 29 seconds into the second period. Not only did it tie the game at 1, it happened so fast that the Devils had 1:28 left on the second power play. Instead of sagging while playing their second game in as many nights, the Bruins responded. Marchand scored his league-leading fifth short-handed goal and the red-hot Iginla pushed the lead to two goals less than a minute late. "Its always nice when you are able to get a goal right after they score one, and getting it short-handed is always nice," Marchand said. The winning streak is the Bruins longest since a 10-game run in November 2011. Its also four shy of the franchise record set in 1929-30. "Were not thinking about anything," Marchand said of the record and the run at the Presidents Trophy. "Weve cleared that out of our minds and are trying to take it game by game and day by day. Weve played too many games in too short of a time to think like that. Its just a struggle getting up every day and looking at the next game. Its been a pretty tiring month. "Were staying focused, and if we do that, well continue our run." Patrice Bergeron and Chris Kelly also scored for Boston. Chad Johnson made 20 saves as the Eastern Conference leaders hurt the Devils post-season hopes by sending them to their third straight loss. Bergeron also had the primary assist on Marchands goal while Zdeno Chara, who was celebrating his 37th birthday, made the breakout pass out of the zone. The goal had not been announced when Iginla broke into the Devils zone after taking a long pass and beat Martin Brodeur between the pads with a shot from the right circle. It was his 26th goal of the season and his fifth in the last three games. Elias and Travis Zajac scored for the Devils, who have 13 games left to either turn things around or they will miss the playoffs for the second straight year and third time in four. Brodeur made 27 saves. "Our effort is just not at the right point for the urgency that we need to make that push toward the playoffs," Brodeur said. The fans at the Prudential Center noted that by booing New Jersey as it left the ice down 3-1 after two periods. "We deserved to get booed," said Elias, whose goal was his 16th. Kelly stretched the lead to 4-1 a little more than seven minutes into the third period, beating Brodeur in close after taking a pass from Carl Soderberg. Zajac snapped a shot over Johnson (15-3-1) a little more than two minutes later. It was his 13th of the season. The Bruins, who were playing on consecutive nights, dominated the first period, taking the first nine shots. Bergeron put them ahead with 5:27 left in the period when he was sent in alone by Reilly Smith and beat Brodeur with a backhander that seemed to slip off his stick. NOTES: Bruins D Johnny Boychuk missed his second straight game with a leg injury. ... Devils F Ryan Carter missed his second straight with an upper-body injury. The move, first reported by NFL.com and confirmed by Clemons representatives, was not unexpected as Seattle tries to clear the right amount of financial space to make moves in free agency while also trying to work on extensions for safety Earl Thomas and cornerback Richard Sherman. Clemons was set to make $7.5 million in base salary in 2014, the final year of an extension he signed with the Seahawks before the start of the 2012 season. Clemons turned around his career when he arrived in Seattle via trade before the 2010 season and will be regarded as one of the top moves made by general manager John Schneider. After failing to find success in Oakland and Philadelphia, Clemons thrived in Seattle. Placed into the LEO position on the defensive line, Clemons became Seattles top pass rusher for his first three seasons with the Seahawks with a combined 33 1/2 sacks from 2010 tto 2012 and at least 11 sacks in each of those seasons. China Jerseys Free Shipping. Last season, Clemons had only 4 1/2 sacks as the emergence of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett and a deeper rotation on the defensive line took away some of Clemons opportunities. Clemons suffered a torn ACL in the 2012 playoffs but worked his way back to where he was on the field by Week 3 of the regular season. He had 3 1/2 sacks his first five games, but had just one sack the final nine games of the regular season. Clemons did have Seattles only sack of Peyton Manning in its Super Bowl blowout victory. With Seattles re-signing of Bennett earlier this week, it seemed only a matter of time before Clemons was released. Clemons, 32, is the fourth defensive player to either be released by the Seahawks or sign with another club in free agency. Fellow defensive end Red Bryant was released last week and signed with Jacksonville. Free agent Clinton McDonald signed with Tampa Bay on Tuesday and reserve safety Chris Maragos agreed to a deal with Philadelphia on Wednesday morning. ' ' '

Harden also had seven rebounds and six assists for the Rockets and has scored at least 28 points in his last five games. He leads the NBA with 27.7 ppg. I felt real comfortable. My shot felt good all night, Harden said. Patrick Beverley and Donatas Motiejunas added 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Houston, which went 17-of-43 from beyond the arc. Dwight Howard contributed 11 points and eight rebounds. The newest Rockets - Josh Smith and Corey Brewer - didnt do much on Wednesday. They scored five points each on a combined 4-for-15 shooting, but the Rockets did the job on defense. Houston held the Hornets to 38.2 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from long range. The Rockets forced 18 turnovers and are third in opponents scoring and fifth in opponents field goal percentage. Their defense is good, really good actually, Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. The Pelicans have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games to stay at .500. New Orleans has won two straight in the Big Easy, but lost last time out. The Pelicans fell Wednesday in San Antonio, 95-93, in overtime against the defending champion Spurs. New Orleans had taken an 84-82 edge on Anthony Davis second-chance slam with 0.7 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Pelicans Omer Asik inadvertently tipped in Boris Diaws inbounds pass for Tim Duncan as the buzzer sounded to force extra time. The Pelicans recovered to start the overtime strong, putting forth a 7-2 run capped by Davis steal that led to a run-out layup by Jimmer Fredette that gave New Orleans a 91-86 advantage. Manu Ginobili scored the next five points, however, and Danny Green blocked Tyreke Evans going to the hoop and was fouled on the rebound with 40.3 seconds to play. He hit 1-of-2 free throws to put San Antonio up 91-90. Davis then took matters into his own hands, going strong to the basket and converting a layup while being fouled with 36.7 seconds on the clock. He missed the free throw, however, and Tim Duncan found a cutting Ginobili on the ensuing possession for the go-ahead points. Evans then misfired on a 3- point try and Duncan came down with the rebound to seal the outcome. I just feel bad for our guys, said Pelicans head coach Monty Williams. To fight like we did on a back-to-back and have the game in your hands and losing it in regulation like that, then fighting like heck in overtime and not be able to pull it out. Davis had 21 points, 12 boards and four steals to pace the Pelicans. Ryan Anderson also recorded a double-double for New Orleans, amassing 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jrue Holiday posted 13 points and nine assists in the loss. The Pelicans beat the Rockets in Houston on Dec. 18 and have won two straight in this series. Wozniak wasted a match point in her 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-2 first-round loss to Romanias Sorana Cirstea. Torontos Fichman, ranked 77th, lost to sixth-seed Jelena Jankovic 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 in a match interrupted by darkness last in the second set on Monday. The first meeting between qualifier Wozniak, the world No. 149 from Blainville, Que., and 26th-ranked Cirstea lasted for just over 90 minutes in dry but chilly conditions. Wozniak, who has struggled with rehabilitation from a 2012 shoulder injury, had her chances to close out a win as she led the second set 5-4 But she dumped a backhand into the net on her winning chance, allowing Cirstea to eventually hold serve and tie the set at five games apiece. "It was one point to win the match, Im disappointed that I didnt cover it," Wozniak said. Cirstea then broke Wozniak for a 6-5 lead and tied the match at a set apiece a game later. The third set was a disaster for Wozniak, who lost serve to start and was beaten with a forehand down the line. Wozniak said she was carrying a thigh injury from her second qualifying match and felt it during her loss. "The first two sets were real battles," Wozniak said, before giving credit to Cirstea. "She played well, shes a good pplayer with a solid ground game, I knew what I was facing when I went into the match. Air Max 720 Sale. Im disappointed it didnt go my way today. Wozniak had her best Grand Slam result at Roland Garros in 2009 when she reached the fourth round. Fichman won her opening set on Monday against former No. 1 Jankovic but trailed 1-5 when darkness fell. When they came back, it was Jankovic in command, with the Serb winning the second set and breaking in the second game of the third. Fichman played catch-up all through the final set and saved a match point before taking the loss with 30 winners and 41 unforced errors. "At 3-all in the last set, I felt I got back into it, I played some good games," said Fichman. "Shes a tough player and is where she is for a reason. "She didnt give any free points; I knew I had to try and earn the match myself. I had a break point at 4-3 but I couldnt convert it. But the fact that I put myself into this position and had the chances is a positive thing. I hope to keep improving and take the good things from this match." ' ' '
NATAL, Brazil -- Greece promised goals that didnt come. Wholesale Bruins Jerseys . Japan pressed for a victory that eluded it yet again. The ultimate result of what has turned out to be a rarity at this World Cup -- a 0-0 draw -- is that Colombia is guaranteed to move on to the knockout rounds and Greece and Japan are still clinging to life in Group C. Reduced to 10 men after captain Costas Katsouranis was sent off in the 38th minute with his second booking, Greece held on for a critical result in the group by returning to the rock-solid defence that Colombia had blistered for three goals in an opening loss. "My players were brilliant," said Greece coach Fernando Santos. "They worked hard after the red card. Without the red card we probably would have won the game." Both teams inserted new strikers in search of goals and a first victory, but ultimately the main objective was survival and both achieved that with one match left in group play. Japan would have been eliminated with a loss. Once Katsouranis was sent off after a rough challenge on Makoto Hasebe, Greece withdrew into a defensive setup and held firm. Even short-handed, Greece was better organized against Japan and avoided any critical mistakes. Japan defender Atsuto Uchida said he could sense Greece building a wall around the goal as soon as Katsouranis was sent off. "I had a bad feeling about it. It happens a lot in soccer, when a team goes down to 10, they know exactly what they need to do. And that also happens to be exactly Greeces way to fighting -- to fight by defending," Uchida said. Japan pressed forward after halftime and had several chances to score. The best came in the 68th minute when Shinji Kagawa played a long pass over the top to Uchida, who sent it back across the middle to Yoshito Okubo, who blasted the volley over the net. Greece goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis also was forced to make a diving save in injury time to preserve the draw and the point for Greece. Greece came in determined to turn around its dismal scoring history in the World Cup -- 18 goals conceded against just two scored -- inserting Kostas Mitroglou up front. Greek players had even promised goals against Japan. But Mitroglous best effort was an early volley that spun off his foot and he didnt even make it to halftime. After taking an elbow in the side in the 30th minute, Mitroglou collapsed to the ground. He got up and walked off under his own power but soon determined he couldnt continue and was taken off for Theofanis Gekas in the 35th minute. Things got worse for Greece just moments later when Katsouranis was sent off. Greece retreated into its half of the field for most of the second half. Japan had 68 per cent of ball possession. Katsouranis will be suspended for Greeces final group match against Ivory Coast. "It was a terrible start, losing a man," Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos said. "But we have a point and we have hope ... if things go well, let us get four points with a win in the next game -- and if God decides that we are eliminated because of the other result, so be it." Japan, which had been beaten up in a physical matchup with Ivory Coast in a 2-1 opening loss, once again had to deal with a bigger, stronger and much taller opponent. Coach Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni dropped Kagawa from the starting lineup in surprise move, putting veteran striker Okubo up front with Europe-based star Keisuke Honda. Okubo had one of Japans best chances to score in the first half but sent his header over the crossbar in the 33rd minute Zaccheroni was frustrated Japan didnt use its speed to exploit the spaces left by Greece being short a player. A win over Colombia wont guarantee Japans moves on to the next round. If Ivory Coast beats Greece, Japan will go home. "We played too slowly," Zaccheroni said. "This is not a positive result. We absolutely needed to win." ------ Japan: Japan: Eiji Kawashima, Atsuto Uchida, Keisuke Honda, Yuto Nagamoto, Shinji Okazaki, Yoshito Okubo, Yasuyuki Konno, Hotaru Yamaguchi, Makoto Hasebe (Yasuhito Endo, 46), Yuya Osako (Shinji Kagawa, 57) and Maya Yoshida. CHICAGO -- This time, it was hard work for the Chicago Blackhawks. No pretty goals on this night, just get to the front of the net and fight for a chance. Pushed, poked and prodded by the Minnesota Wild, Jonathan Toews and Co. found a way. Toews had a tough rebound goal early in the third period, and the Blackhawks beat the Wild 2-1 on Sunday to take a 3-2 series lead in the Western Conference semifinals. "The whole game, the whole series has been very tight," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "Still not a lot of room and space, but thats what weve got to fight through. I thought we showed more determination in the puck area tonight." Bryan Bickell also scored and Corey Crawford made 27 saves as Chicago bounced back from consecutive losses in Minnesota that handed the momentum to the Wild heading into Game 5. But the Blackhawks were back at the United Center, where they improved to 6-0 in this post-season and 17-2 over the past two playoffs. "As the game went on, we found ways to play better as a five-man unit," Toews said. "Once one line would generate a good shift and get us some energy, the next line would follow it right up. I think thats when were an effective team, when we have four lines going like that and contributing." Erik Haula scored in the first period for the Wild, and Ilya Bryzgalov had 26 stops. Minnesota became the first team to score first in the second round of the NHL playoffs and lose, dropping that record to 19-1, according to STATS. "We tried to hang on to something we wanted to have happen and we fell victim to it," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. Game 6 is Tuesday night in Minnesota, where the Wild are undefeated in this post-season. Minnesota had a chance to grab the lead in the third but Crawford made a nice kick save on Cody McCormick about 2 1/2 minutes into the period. He also had a solid glove stop on Ryan Suter with the Blackhawks clinging to a 2-1 lead with 4:38 to go. "We just need a better effort," Wild star Zach Parise said. "Not that it was terrible. I mean, we had our chance to win at the end of the game. We did some things really well. But I think we can be better, and we know we can be better." Toews, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp combined to put Chicago in front 4 1/2 minutes into the third. Hossa sent tthe puck in front to Toews at the right post. Fake Bruins Jerseys. The captain was stopped by Bryzgalov, but he managed to slam home a backhand for his fifth goal of the playoffs. "It was an ugly goal," said Toews, who also had a big hit on Wild forward Mikael Granlund right before he scored. "As a line we were playing well and looking to find a way to score. I happened to get an ugly one on the side." The first period looked similar to much of the past two games in Minnesota, with the Wild using their speed and checking ability to shut down Chicagos high-powered attack. The Wild also outworked the defending Stanley Cup champions early on as Quenneville tried several line combinations looking for a spark. Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook was whistled for tripping just 29 seconds into the game, and Granlund sent an open look off the outside of the right post on the ensuing power play. A terrific individual effort by Haula put Minnesota in front at 16:33 of the first. He drove through the Chicago zone and kept moving after his first try was stopped by Crawford, flipping a backhand into the net for his third goal of the post-season. Chicago started to generate more chances in the second, but most of its early shots came from outside and Bryzgalov gobbled them up easily. Marcus Kruger sent a pass through the Minnesota crease, but no one was there for the Blackhawks. It took a well-timed dash by a seldom-used role player to set up Chicagos third goal in the past three games. Playing for the first time since April 12, Peter Regin drove to the net to draw a hooking penalty on Jonas Brodin. Regin was active for the first time in the playoffs after the Blackhawks scratched Andrew Shaw with a lower-body injury, and Brandon Bollig sat out with a two-game suspension for boarding Wild defenceman Keith Ballard in Game 4. On the ensuing power play, Patrick Kanes slap shot went off Bickells left leg and past Bryzgalov to make it 1-1 at 9:18 of the second. It was Bickells sixth goal of the playoffs. NOTES: Game 7 would be Thursday in Chicago. ... The Wild played without Ballard (upper-body injury) and forward Matt Moulson (lower-body injury). ... Blackhawks D Michal Rozsival was scratched after he struggled in Game 4. D Sheldon Brookbank and F Kris Versteeg returned to Chicagos lineup. ' ' '
PITTSBURGH, Pa. Brandon Workman Jersey Red Sox . - The NFL is still deciding how to discipline Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin for his not-so-fancy footwork. New video, though, shows Tomlin inching closer to the field before Baltimore kickoff returner Jacoby Jones nearly collided with him in last Thursdays 22-20 win by the Ravens. KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh released video Monday indicating Tomlin took a sizable step toward the field as Jones broke into the open, and didnt move until Jones was nearly on top of the coach. Tomlin actually put his right foot on green grass as part of a stutter step move out of harms way. It wasnt early enough to stop Jones from moving to his right just before being tackled by Pittsburghs Cortez Allen after a 73-yard return. Tomlin was not penalized, though he is facing disciplinary action. Tomlin said following the game he was watching the play unfold on one of the scoreboards and lost his "placement" on the field. "I do it quite often, like everybody else in the National Football League," Tomlin said. "I was wrong, I accept responsibility for it." Steelers safety Ryan Clark defended Tomlin, saying being on the field is common even though rules require players, coaches and support staff to stand behind a large white strip of grass that separates the field from the benches. "Im always on the field. I sit on the field, but I try to sit on it away from anything," Clark said Monday. The 12-year veteran said he stepped onto the field while Pittsburghs offence tried a potential tying 2-point conversion against the Ravens in the final minutes "so I could see." Clark added there was no malice in Tomlins actions. "There was no intent at all," Clark said. "When he noticed he was in the way, he got out of the way. If he tripped (Jones), tackled him, itd be a different story." The NFL fined the New York Jets $100,000 in 2010 when cameras caught strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi tripping a Miami player on the sideline. Alosi was suspended by the Jets and eventually resigned after the season. Jones said after the game that "if I was (Tomlin), I would do the same thing" and didnt blame the coach for Jones inability to score. That doesnt mean Jones is ruling out the idea Tomlin knew what he was doing. "Before I got to him, he was halfway on the field," Jones said. "He gave me a little juke, and I tried to juke him." ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.orgTed Lyons Jersey White Sox . EAST LANSING, Mich. Fergie Jenkins Jersey Cubs . -- Tom Izzo is openly lobbying for someone else to move to No. 1 in next weeks rankings. "Weve just got to hope now that Kansas blows somebody out so they move them ahead of us," the Michigan State coach said. "We proved tonight were not ready to handle any kind of success, and that disappoints me." The angst was back in Izzos voice Friday night, even though No. 2 Michigan State did pull away from upset-minded Columbia in the final two minutes for a 62-53 victory. The Spartans trailed for a majority of the second half, but Adreian Payne was too much for the Lions inside, finishing with 26 points. Michigan State (3-0) beat top-ranked Kentucky earlier in the week, and No. 5 Kansas beat No. 4 Duke. Unbeaten Louisville is No. 3. Maodo Lo had 12 points for Columbia (1-2), which kept its poise for the most part but went scoreless for the final 4:27. "All credit to Columbia. They came out and played their heart out," Michigan States Denzel Valentine said. "We need to come out with more energy and passion than we did today." Michigan State scored the games first nine points, but the Spartans trailed 26-22 at halftime and didnt lead again until Gary Harris three-point play put Michigan State ahead 49-46 with 7:28 to go. Columbias Meiko Lyles made a 3-pointer with 6:08 to go to tie it at 51, and the Lions trailed 54-53 after a layup by Alex Rosenberg, but they didnt score again. Down 55-53, Columbia committed back-to-back shot clock violations. The Lions may have been thrown off by the Michigan State crowd, which was counting the clock down falsely -- a couple seconds too late. "When that happened, I almost got up and thanked them," Izzo said. "I didnt want to embarrass anybody." Still, Columbia had a chance to tie it with 1:47 to go, but Isaac Cohen missed the front end of a one-and-one. At the other end, Keith Appling drove into the teeth of the Columbia defence and lobbed an alley-oop to Payne that made it 57-53. Michigan State hasnt been No. 1 in the AP poll since 2001, the year after the Spartans won the national championship. "Ill just save you guys the embarrassment of writing stupid things," Izzo said. "We havent proven enough to be considered a great team. Were a doggone good team with a long, long way to go." The Spartans were obviously in danger of a letdown after beating Kentucky, but they appeared to avoid that when they opened the game on a 9-0 run. But perhaps the game was a little too easy for Michigan State at the start. The Spartans ended up shooting 35 per cent in the first half, and Columbia got comfortable quickly. Rosenbergs layup capped a 9-0 run for the Lions that put them ahead 14-11, and Michigan State had a hard time shaking them after that. "It all falls on our energy level," Appling said. "They took advantage of that. They were in position to win." Payne had 11 rebounds and shot 9 of 15 from the field. The Spartans attempted 30 free throws to Columbias 11, but although they had some success inside in the second half, they finished 0 of 7 from 3-point range. Michigan State also had only five offensive rebounds. "Ill take most of the blame because Im the one thats supposed to have them ready to play," Izzo said. "Rebounding here is a religion, and maybe this team wants to change that, so Ive got to make sure that doesnt happen." Harris scored 11 points and Valentine had 10. Cohen and Rosenberg had 10 points each for the Lions. "You play to win. We try to compete and win," Columbia coach Kyle Smith said. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Dwayne Bowe deftly avoided the locker room full of prying TV cameras, finally emerging onto the Kansas City Chiefs practice field Wednesday as if nothing was amiss. The former Pro Bowl wide receiver spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for Sunday nights AFC West showdown against the Broncos, a game in which hell start despite a weekend arrest for speeding and possession of marijuana. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said that he intends to let the legal situation run its course, but he made it clear that Bowe will be in the starting lineup for the unbeaten Chiefs. "There are rules and regulations put in place and well abide by the rules and regulations, and well make sure we take all of the information that comes out as it goes through the process," Reid said. "Thats where were going with it." Bowe did not speak to reporters, instead issuing a statement in which he apologized "for the distraction I have caused the team this week." "Due to the nature of the pending matter, I am unable to make any further comment on the situation," Bowes statement said. According to police, Bowes wallet was discovered along with two containers that held about one-third of an ounce of suspected marijuana. Bowe was cited for speeding and possession of a controlled substance. He posted $750 bond and faces a Dec. 18 court appearance. The Chiefs were off last week before beginning their preparations for Denver. "I addressed him, had that opportunity to talk to him, and Ill leave it at that," Reid said. "There are laws, rules and regulations, and Ill leave it at that." Reid did say that Bowe has been a model teammate. "Dwaynes been a team player since Ive been here," Reid said. "He doesnt want to bring any problems to the table. Thats not what he wants to do." It is unlikely Bowe will be disciplined until after his court date. While the Chiefs are barred from disciplining the former Pro Bowl wide receiver for violating the leagues substance-abuse policy, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the past has handed down one-game suspensions annd fines of an additional game check for similar cases. Bernardo Flores Jersey White Sox. Bowe, who signed five-year, $56 million deal in the off-season, has struggled to live up to the expectations that come with being one of the games best-paid wide receivers. Hes second on the team with 33 catches for 369 yards and two touchdowns during the Chiefs 9-0 start. This isnt the first time that Bowe has proven to be a distraction. He was suspended four games in 2009 for violating the NFLs policy on performance-enhancing drugs after taking what his agent called an unapproved weight-loss supplement. He also made questionable comments to a magazine a few years ago about womanizing that allegedly occurred at team hotels, and then misstated the name of Chiefs ownership family in his apology. Now in his seventh season, Bowe is second in franchise history with 448 catches, trailing only former tight end Tony Gonzalez. He has 6,078 yards receiving, sixth-most in team history, and 41 touchdown catches, fifth-most in Chiefs history. With the spectre of a high-profile showdown against Denver hanging over the locker room, Chiefs players were reticent to discuss Bowes arrest during Tuesdays availability. Quarterback Alex Smith guided the conversation back to the Broncos any time the topic was broached, though he did say players with larger contracts have an obligation to be leaders. "Its a lot different than the collegiate level or the high school level. When you get to the NFL, theres a lot that comes with it," Smith said. "We have a bunch of guys that are focused on winning, doing things the right way." Cornerback Brandon Flowers sidestepped questions about Bowes arrest, saying only that "there are no distractions at all. I can promise you that." Veteran linebacker Tamba Hali likewise deflected questions back to the Broncos game. "He knows were here for him. We practice with him every day," Hali said. "Again, a situation like that, its far beyond us. We just want to continue to focus on what weve got here. Its a legal matter. We just want that process to take care of itself." ' ' '

Antti Raanta faced 29 shots. Chicago has lost three of its last four outings and captain Jonathan Toews says there are too many mistakes happening when his team has possession of the puck. "Id say there was some good moments where we did have control of the puck where we were getting point shots and second efforts and some of the things were looking for when were playing good hockey," said Toews. "Other than that it was sloppy turnovers, sloppy mistakes that we really need to get out of our system. We need to get those plays out of our game. Its as simple as that. We need to play some character hockey. Frustrating way to lose." Toews wasnt alone in thinking the Blackhawks failed to show their best effort. "I didnt like our game," said Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville. "We had a good start and obviously giving up a shorthanded (goal) right off the bat they got some momentum off it and played well." Ottawa scored twice in the third and killed off a 34 second two-man advantage to hold off the Blackhawks before a crowd of 18,922 at the Canadian Tire Centre. Turris made it 4-2 with a power-play goal at the six-minute mark of the third and MacArthur scored his 23rd of the season midway through the period to make it 5-2. "I thought we competed better," said MacArthur. "We had a little lapse in the second, but youre playing Chicago and theyre going to make a push, but we were able to make plays in the third and not clam up." Frustration started to set in for Chicago midway through the third when Andrew Shaw speared Zack Smith. Shaw was assessed a major and game misconduct for his actions. After the game Smith admitted he was less than impressed by the play. "A spear is always looked upon as pretty bad for someone to do," said Smith. "Its kind of a cheap shot, especially where he was aiming, but you saw the replay." The Blackhawks made it 5-3 with a shorthanded goal at the 17-minute mark as Seabrooks shot from the point just trickled across the goal-line. Ottawa jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but by the end of the second it was a one-goal game. The Senators were outshot 23-5 in the middle period. Chicago got on the board midway through the second with a power-play goal as Sharp took a great pass from Jonathan Toews and tipped it past Anderson. Hossa made it 3-2 when he scored with 41 seconds remaining in the second period. Hossa intercepted a pass at the Ottawa blue-line, cut through two defencemen and squeezed the puck past Anderson. Ottawa had made it 3-0 just 23 seconds into the second as Michalek tipped in a shot off a pass from Spezza. "I thought we had a little more confidence," added MacArthur. "I thought overall we had a little lapse and those are going to happen, but we answered back in the third which is big and I thought our (defencemen) moved the puck a lot better, especially in the third when we were under pressure." The Senators held a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Condra made it 1-0, scoring shorthanded midway through the first. And Ceci made it 2-0 in the final minute of the period as he scored from just inside the blue line. Aston Villa 0 Manchester City 2. Yes, it was yet another home loss for Aston Villa and they certainly have had far too many of those in recent years, yet there was something rather different going on at Villa Park on Saturday. The pulse was back. Ultimately, the team ended up with nothing; running out losers courtesy of goals from two world class stars, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero, yet this was not a familiar story for Villa fans. They, more than most, know too well what woeful looks like. They have certainly sat through enough of it the last three campaigns. House of Horrors It has been three difficult seasons for the West Midlands club, both on and off the field. Massive financial cutbacks were required following the Martin ONeill era, a time many look back at as being a successful period for the club based on three straight 6th place finishes, yet it was a time of great turmoil financially. By the end of the 2009-10 season, the clubs turnover reached 90 million pounds, of which an incredible 88 per cent (80m) was being spent on players wages, an unsustainable figure for any business. It was time for them to pay for the relative success they achieved on the field. Villa plummeted from 9th to 15th in the 2011-12 season winning just four home matches, the lowest in club history. The crowds also dropped as the fans had no connection to manager Alex McLeish, a former Birmingham City boss who many in the area despised. 2010-11 attendance - 706,685 at an average of 37,194 (8th highest in the PL) 2011-12 attendance - 643, 590 at an average of 33,873 (9th highest in the PL). Paul Lambert arrived as manager in June of 2012 and with it came a new direction as many young, cheaper players from the lower leagues in England were signed. Lambert gambled on youth and it almost cost Villa their Premier League status. Home form wasnt much better than the previous year as they won just five matches, yet the fans returned coming closer to the figures in 2010-11 than in 2011-12. 2012-13 attendance - 666,135 at an average of 35,060 (10th highest in the PL). Villa were equally poor at home last season. Under Lambert they showed no progress in taking over games, struggling to keep the ball and being forced into a counter-attacking side that many said they were better suited to play away from home. Although that was true it was actually an indictment on the team rather than it being a positive system by design. Far too often they simply couldnt control games against inferior teams. They managed to reach six home wins last season but for the third successive season they were in a relegation fight into the last month. Still the crowds came, remarkably improving on the year previous. 2013-14 attendance - 685,535 at an average of 36,081 (9th highest in the PL). Of the 14 teams who played in each of the three seasons (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14) Villa were last in terms of league home wins (57 games played): Man City 49 Man Utd 40 Chelsea 39 Arsenal 36 Everton 35 Tottenham 35 Liverpool 31 Stoke City 24 Fulham 22 Norwich 21 Swansea 20 West Brom 19 Sunderland 17 Aston Villa 15 Results and poor performances at Villa Park alone were not the reason for Villas struggles but they were one of the main reasons why many of the loyal fan base had grown tired of Paul Lambert as manager. He certainly didnt help his case losing cup matches to lower league opposition at Villa Park, also. Lambert, however, was rewarded with a four year extension last month after the club raced to 10pts through the first four games. Predictably, they have now lost three straight matches to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City as they continue on a run where they play five successive matches against thee teams that finished in the top five last season. Mark Jackson Jersey. They were already behind in the first halves against Arsenal and Chelsea but it took Man City 82 patient minutes before they tipped the balance at Villa Park. Yet, this was not a game where Villa simply sat deep and invited pressure on. Naturally Citys talent shone and they were able to dictate much of the possession but Villa showed real signs of progression that will certainly help them improve against much weaker teams than Man City this season. An English Triangle Lambert deserves credit for addressing an alarming lack of experience (and quality) in his squad this summer and bringing in (and back) some senior players, but one area he didnt need to make many adjustments to was central midfield. Many young players simply didnt progress under Lamberts tutelage but two that did were midfielders Ashley Westwood and Fabian Delph. Both were excellent for much of the last two seasons but the Scots insistence to often play them in a 4-2-3-1 very often left them exposed. At the end of the transfer window in August, he added a third English midfielder, signing Tom Cleverley on loan from Manchester United. When healthy, the three have played every minute together since and already have a tremendous understanding of their roles. Westwood, who captained the team against Manchester City with Ron Vlaar and Gabriel Agbonlahor unavailable, sits slightly deeper of the three, centrally, but is far from a midfield destroyer. He presses well and reads the game well but his greatest assets are his passing and ability to find space. These are crucial when Villa start transitions. Delph, rightfully rewarded with an England call-up last month, covers much more ground than Westwood, is more comfortable on the ball and can penetrate into the final third with his endless amount of energy. He doesnt have Westwoods passing but he is much more dangerous when in possession. Cleverley has been a superb addition that the pair needed. He operates to the right of Westwood, is a good passer but, like Delph, is intelligent in pressing and can make runs in behind defenders. The trio had an excellent match against a Man City team that once again experimented in midfield and still didnt get their balance right as they flipped from Toure and Fernandinho to Toure and Frank Lampard and eventually settled on Toure, Lampard and Fernando, a combination that was on the field for their goals but is still far from their best. Pass Completion Rate vs City Ashley Westwood 41/47 - 87 per cent Fabian Delph 40/45 - 89 per cent Tom Cleverley 53/56 - 95 per cent Total - 134/148 - 91 per cent Westwood to Delph (14) was the top pass combination for Villa in the game with Cleverley to Westwood (11) and Westwood to Cleverley (10) not far behind. The trio also combined for 10 interceptions. Statistics tell only part of the story. Their collective pressing was intelligent and rarely did they allow creators like David Silva and Toure in behind them. It was no coincidence that both City goals came from when they finally found the key to the space vacated behind the trio. In possession they switch the play well while Delph and Cleverley can break away on the break and create overlaps out wide with full backs or wingers. Star striker Christian Benteke returned for 30 minutes against Man City and linked up well with the three Englishmen in behind him. Results may have not gone their way lately but there is certainly many reasons for the Villa Park faithful to be optimistic once the team returns following the international break. With three rare intelligent English midfielders together there should be no reason why they cant finally dictate home matches against teams not challenging for the top six. ' ' '
Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork. Gary Varsho Jersey .com) - Eclipse Award winner Shared Belief will be kept on his usual training schedule leading to the $5 million Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 1. Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will continue training Shared Belief at Golden Gate Fields in the San Francisco Bay area until just before shipping to Santa Anita. Hes done that every race, Hollendorfer said Friday morning at Santa Anita. Hell come down here and just go over the track a couple of days like he did last time (before the Awesome Again) and that will be how we prepare. Hes doing real well. Last month the 3-year-old gelding won the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita over older horses to keep his career mark perfect in seven starts. I watched him gallop (Thursday morning) at Golden Gate. Ill train him up there and then well ship down here in a big box stall for the Breeders Cup, Hollendorfer said. Were hoping thats a good formula. Having him at Golden Gate seems to be the answer for this horse. Shared Belief missed the Triple Crown races, beginning his season with an allowance victory at Golden Gate Fields on May 26. Weve been able to keep his feet good up there, so its working. His works are going to be mostly maintenance-type works, but we might give him one good blast up there before he comes down, the trainer noted. Partly owned by Hollendorfer and Jim Rome, Shared Belief has banked $1,552,200 with wins this year in the Los Alamitos Derby and Pacific Classic. As a 2- year-old in 2013, Shared Belief was perfect in three starts, including the Hollywood Prevue and CashCall Futurity, both at Hollywood Park. MINSK, Belarus -- When Alex Burrows was on the ice in pain following a knee-on-knee hit from Italys Joachim Ramoser, it didnt look good. USA Soccer Pro Shop . When he needed to lean on Brayden Schenn and Nathan MacKinnon to get off the ice, it was all too easy to fear the worst. A year after Team Canada lost Eric Staal to a sprained medial collateral ligament at the world hockey championship, it was something of a relief that Burrows did not suffer a knee injury. In announcing a one-game suspension for Ramoser, the International Ice Hockey Federation revealed the Canadian medical staffs diagnosis of a charley horse. Coach Dave Tippett said Saturday that Burrows was a game-time decision for Sundays showdown with Sweden. "A little better today," Tippett said after an optional practice at Chizhovka-Arena. "(Burrows) took steps forwards overnight, and doctors and trainers will work on him today and hopefully we can get him close tomorrow." Asked if he was confident the Vancouver Canucks forward would be able to play, Tippett responded: "Well see. Lets see where it is tomorrow, but certainly better than last night." Burrows did not return after the scary collision with 56 seconds left in the first period that Tippett and Italian coach Tom Pokel agreed was not intentional. The IIHF disciplinary panel agreed but added that Ramoser "endangered the safety of Burrows." "He did initiate contact illegally with his knee and must take responsibility for causing the injury to Burrows," the IIHF said in a statement. Told of Ramosers suspension Saturday, Tippett called it a tough play. "Its a knee-to-knee kind of hit," he said. "I dont think the kid meant to do it. Just when you miss by a little bit, those things happen." Burrows did not skate Saturday, but he was far from alone. Only four skaters -- defenceman Morgan Rielly and forwards Jonathan Huberdeau, Mark Scheifele and Sean Monahan -- took the ice along with goaltenders Ben Scrivens, James Reimer and Justin Peters. It was not clear which goaltender would start against Sweden in Canadas second-to-last preliminary game that very likely will determine first place in Group A. Reimer has a 2.27 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in two starts, while Scrivens has a 1.00 and .963. Sweden is Canadas biggest test before the quarter-final. Two players are back from the silver-medal-winning Sochi Olympic team -- forwards Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings and Jimmie Ericsson. Goaltender Anders Nilsson of the New York Islanders has been phenomenal for Sweden, which has gotten seven points from former NHL forward Joakim Lindstrom. "Obviously were expecting a high-paced game, and theyve got some good, skilled players," said Cody Hodgson, who leads Canada with seven points and is tied for the tournament lead with six goals. Hodgson is thriving in part because hes healthy, and while some teammates are banged-up, Tippett thinks theyll be OK. Defenceman Braydon Coburn lost a few teeth in Fridays victory over Italy, and Troy Brouwer and Kevin Bieska also had mouth injuries. Defenceman Jason Garrison, who missed the game against Italy with illness, was doing better Saturday, according to Tippett. The flu bug has gone through some other teams in Minsk, but beyond Garrison it hadnt done the same to Canada. "Knock on wood it seems to be all right today," Tippett said. Even more fortunate for Canada is that Burrows seems to be OK. "It was a tough-looking hit, but hes been around a while," Tippett said. "He knows when he thinks he can get up and moving, and it was good to see him today a lot better than last night." USA Soccer Jerseys China . It also helped him become the Hilltoppers new head coach. WKU athletic director Todd Stewart announced Friday that it was promoting the offensive co-ordinator, naming Brohm as its coach. Brohm is replacing Bobby Petrino, who Thursday was named the Louisville head coach. Brohm vowed to maintain WKUs offensive proficiency as the Hilltoppers move into Conference USA next season. "Were going to try to stay cutting edge, be ahead of the curve and be creative," he said during a press conference Friday afternoon after becoming WKUs 19th head coach. "Thats one thing as a coach that I take pride in -- not just studying ourselves but the best teams in the country, making sure were not missing out on anything other teams do," he said. "And making sure were giving our players the best chance to succeed." Brohm, 42, takes control of a Hilltoppers squad that went 8-4 in their final year as a member of the Sun Belt Conference and just missed a second straight bowl appearance as an FBS school. A Louisville native who played quarterback for the Cardinals and was an assistannt coach at the school under Petrino, Brohm built the Hilltoppers into the Sun Belts second-ranked offence (458. Eric Wynalda Jersey. 5 yards per game) in his first season as co-ordinator. Running back Antonio Andrews was named conference player of the year. The former NFL quarterback has sent 20 players including four QBs to the pros. Brohms coaching resume includes stops at Florida Atlantic, Illinois and UAB. Stewart said the Hilltoppers offensive success last season made searching for Petrinos replacement a no-brainer. "Jeff earned this over the past 12 months and was a big reason we won eight games," the AD said, adding that it would have been a waste of time to interview anyone else for the job. Brohm said Petrino was very supportive of him being a head coach while he was a co-ordinator and told him the "best thing" was to do it at WKU. Now that he has the job, the next step is trying to win the C-USA title. "I think its a quality conference and were excited to be in it," Brohm said. "It will bring a lot of energy to our fans and team to play new teams and experiment with going to different places and I think we fit in great. "In our first year our goal is to win the conference championship." ' ' '
From one national open to another, the focus shifts from Royal Liverpool to Royal Montreal for the Canadian Open, where Graham DeLaet, David Hearn and Mike Weir lead a contingent of 19 hometown hopefuls on a quest to end a 60-year drought. Dale Berra Jersey . Watch coverage of the first two rounds live on TSN and TSN GO on Thursday and Friday beginning at 3pm et/Noon pt. The weight of becoming the first Canadian winner since Pat Fletcher in 1954 will remain at the forefront of the tournament until the streak is broken, but the consensus among the Canucks, as Weyburn, Sask. native Graham DeLeat so eloquently puts it, is to "just play golf." "I think a lot of times we put a little too much pressure on ourselves so maybe this year I can just let it all go … and be contention," he said. "Thats all you can ask for and hopefully we get it done Sunday afternoon." DeLaet, the highest ranked Canadian on the World Golf Ranking at 38, was anything but close to ending the drought last year at Oakville, Ont.s Glen Abbey golf course. He shot a 1-over in the first two rounds to miss the cut. David Hearn and Mike Weir fared much better, finishing at 4-under and 3-under, respectively. Weir has sniffed PGA victory on home soil before, falling in a three-hole playoff to Vijay Singh at the 2004 Bell Canadian Open – the closest any Canadian has come since Fletcher. "I was very close one time and not too far away a couple of other times, so Id like to just get myself in that position again and see if something wood be different this time," Weir said. "Id love to do it and if I dont do it, I want one of the other Canadians to do it but it is in the back of our minds, wed like to break that streak." Hearn looks to have the most going for him as far as his game is concerned. He was a late inclusion into last weeks British Open – his first appearance – after former champ Mark Calcavecchia was forced to withdraw due to travel issues. Although the Brampton, Ontario native wasnt close to Rory McIlroys winning score of 17-under, his 3-under was an honourable showing for a first foray into Open Championship waters. "It was pretty exciting for me to get that opportunity last week and be in my first Open Championship," Hearn said. "The spectators and the fans over there were unbelievably receptive. The golf course was truly unique for me and unique experience to play something so different." The change of scenery from the treacherous links to luscious parkland golf could be troublesome for some golfers, but Hearn isnt interested in focusing on course specifics. "Good golf is still good golf and good shots get rewarded, so I feel like, myself, Im playing really good golf and I controlled my ball really well last week and if I do a lot of those things again out here this week I think its going to be a good week," Hearn said. And even if Hearn was interested in discussing the intricacies of playing at Royal Montreal, his frame of reference may be a little small. Well, actually, non-existent. "Ive heard great things. … The last time the Open was here was 2001 and I had just turned pro, so I wasnt playing in the event yet," Hearn said. "From what I understand its a very traditional golf course – very narrow off the tee and small greens – so all of those things suit my game very well." As for the streak, Hearn wasnt getting into specifics on that either. “I think theres a tremendous amount of talent on tour right now. Graham, myself and Mike have been really close within the last couple of years for winning an event. Outside of us there are still a tremendous number of players behind that that have the ability to win a tournament any given week,” he said. “You just never know whos going to be good that week and weve got enough Canadians in this field that its going to happen soon." Luol Deng is coming to Cleveland. The Cavs acquired Deng, a two-time All-Star small forward, from the Chicago Bulls early Tuesday for Bynum, the enigmatic centre who was signed during the summer and recently dismissed from the team for detrimental conduct. The Bulls are expected to release Bynum, who has chronically bad knees and has played just 24 games the past two seasons. Bynum is due another $6 million on the unique two-year, $24 million contract he signed with Cleveland in July, but the Bulls wont have to pay him if hes released by Tuesday afternoon. With their season uprooted by Derrick Roses injury, the Bulls can save salary-cap space by cutting Bynum. Cleveland also gave Chicago a first-round pick from Sacramento, two second-round selections and gave Chicago the right to swap first-round choices in 2015 if the Cavs are not in the lottery. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert vowed the team would never be in the lottery again after it picked first last year. But at just 11-23, the Cavs are on their way to missing the post-season again. Deng, though, could prevent that. The 10-year veteran brings scoring, defence and leadership to a young Cavs team that never adjusted to Bynum and has been beset by other personality issues in their locker room.. Rabbit Maranville Jersey. . General manager Chris Grant was reportedly close to sending Bynum to the Los Angeles Lakers, who need to cut cap space to avoid paying the luxury tax. Unable to strike a deal with the Lakers, Grant turned to the Bulls and wound up with Deng, who is averaging 19 points and 6.9 rebounds. Deng did not receive a contract extension during the off-season and is an unrestricted free agent after this season. But the Cavs hold his Bird Rights and can offer him more money than anyone else. Bynums exit ends a strange sage in Cleveland for the former All-Star, who played seven seasons with the Lakers before he was traded to Philadelphia in 2020. He never played one second for the Sixers and the Cavs were the only team willing to take him on as a free agent. Bynum worked himself back into shape and was on the floor opening night, months earlier than most expected. He showed flashes of being a dominant post player again, but Bynum, who earlier this season said he had lost the joy to play, became increasingly difficult and the Cavs banned him from all team activities on Dec. 28. Although he was not around the team, Bynums peculiar situation hovered over the Cavs, who didnt need any more distractions as they try to re-establish themselves as a relevant team under Mike Brown. The deal for Deng can help them get back on track. ' ' '

SEATTLE -- Sam Fuld so rarely hits home runs its difficult for the Minnesota centre fielder to tell the difference between a deep fly ball and a shot that might leave the park. Where Can Buy Cheap Jerseys . Especially in a park known to be unfriendly to hitters like Safeco Field. "I really dont hit enough to know whether its going to be an F-9 or a home run," Fuld said. Fuld barely cleared the wall with his second home run of the season, Phil Hughes pitched into the eighth inning and the Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Tuesday night. A night after Fuld could not pull back Michael Saunders home run, the roles were reversed. Fuld hit a 3-2 pitch from Seattle starter Chris Young (8-5) beyond the wall in right and just out of the reach of Saunders for the solo shot in the fifth inning. It was the first homer for Fuld since April 10. He finished with three hits and two stolen bases. Fuld took a hard tumble after crashing into the wall trying to snag Saunders shot on Monday night. He woke up sore, but showed up to the park early and made sure manager Ron Gardenhire knew he was fine to play. "That home run was big. Getting a run on the board here, we hadnt scored yet up in Seattle to that point," Gardenhire said. "We know coming in here this team pitches very well, that their bullpen is strong so runs are going to be a premium." Hughes rebounded from being knocked around in his previous two starts to shut down the Mariners. Hughes (9-5) gave up eight hits in 7 1-3 innings, struck out eight and didnt walk a batter in silencing Seattles stagnant offence. Hughes had given up a combined 19 hits and 12 earned runs in his past two starts, losses to Texas and the Yankees. But he had a strong history pitching in Seattle, and is 5-0 with a 0.61 ERA in seven career games at Safeco Field. Hughes went to a three-ball count just once and Logan Morrisons double in the fourth was the only extra base hit he allowed. "The last couple times out I felt like I got hurt with a couple of weird plays and tonight I got some good bounces with the double play ball. Sometimes its just the different of a couple of things going right for you and its a different story," Hughes said. "I felt like my fastball command was good tonight and I was able to work from there." Young was nearly equal to Hughes, yet unable to get a third straight victory because Seattle provided no offensive help. Young gave up six hits and struck out six, but lost for the first time since June 11. He was lifted after giving up a walk to Eduardo Escobar and single to Fuld leading off the eighth to put runners at the corners with no outs. Brian Doziers sacrifice fly off reliever Yoervis Medina scored Escobar to give Minnesota a 2-0 lead. "I needed to keep that scoreless tonight, one at most, and give us a chance," Young said. No matter what Young did on the mound, he couldnt help Seattles bats that have gone cold. Ryu set the course record in her first round, held a four-stroke advantage going into Sunday and led by six going into the back nine. A bogey on No. 15 and Na Yeon Chois birdie shrunk the lead to one. "I thought, Everybodys nervous and Na Yeons nervous, definitely, so I just accepted my nervousness so I just tried to enjoy it," Ryu said. "And I hit a great shot." Ryus birdie on the 16th hole Sunday restored her lead to two as she wrapped up her first victory in more than two years by capturing the US$2.25-million Canadian Pacific Womens Open with a 23-under 265. The 24-year-old South Korean shattered the tournament record of 18 under but couldnt break Annika Sorenstams LPGA Tour record of 27 under. "Im a bit disappointed I couldnt reach Annikas record, but it still feels good," Ryu said minutes after getting soaked in champagne by friends Inbee Park and I.K. Kim. "Ive been waiting so much (for) the champagne. I was ready to get champagne. I smell like champagne right now, but Im still so happy." Ryus last win came at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic in 2012. Since then, she put up 27 top-10 finishes and conceded blowing more than a few chances. "One of my friends asked me, So Yeon, do you want to finish top 10 every tournament or you just want to win one tournament and miss the cut every tournament?" Ryu said. "I said its a really hard question, but at this stage I really need to win." In earning the winners share -- $337,500 -- of the purse at London Hunt and Country Club, Ryu became the tournaments first wire-to-wire champion since Michelle Wie in 2010. Ryu set a course record with a 9-under 63 Thursday and never fell from the top of the leaderboard. Along the way, Ryu was remarkably consistent, finishing with 26 birdies and just three bogeys. Two of them, though, almost ruined her week. With a six-stroke lead after nine holes, Ryu felt confident she could win, but a bogey on No. 10 and a birdie by Choi on 11 got her thinking. Another two-stroke swing on No. 15 gave Choi hope.. What is the best place to buy Cheap Jerseys. "When she misses that putt, I thought, Maybe I could have a chance, too," Choi said. Choi, who shot a bogey-free 67 to get to a career-best 21 under, went into the bunker on No. 16. Ryu watched with relief as her friend missed a putt before she sank a birdie and went on to win by two strokes. Park, like Ryu and Choi part of South Koreas International Crown team, finished third at 18 under after winning last weeks LPGA Championship. Spains Azahara Munoz, who tied Ryus course record Saturday, was fourth at 17 under. Brooke Henderson of Smith Falls, Ont., shot a 74 Sunday to finish as the low Canadian and low amateur at 2-under 286, two strokes better than Calgarys Jennifer Ha. Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., shot a 76 to drop to 3 over, and Sue Kim of Langley, B.C., shot a 78 to drop to 7 over. Henderson, who received medals to commemorate being the low Canadian and low amateur, said of Ryus prize: "I look forward to being able to hold up this trophy some day." It was Ryus to enjoy Sunday night after holding off Choi, who herself hasnt won since the 2012 U.S. Womens Open. But the 26-year-old couldnt feel bad about her performance given Ryus. "Sometimes I finish runner-up and sometimes I have a lot of regrets, but this week not really," Choi said. "Shes playing well, so I cant control her score." Ryu set a goal of seven birdies so she could at least tie Sorenstams record. She wanted eight so that she could break it. When that was out of reach, she was more than happy to have a long-awaited victory to fall back on. "I had quite a lot of experience, especially failed experience," Ryu said. TEMPE, Ariz. Dzanan Musa Jersey . -- Mike Trout has his first seven-figure contract. Up ahead is what figures to be a nine-figure deal. "It feels good," Trout said Wednesday after agreeing to a $1 million, one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels. The salary is the highest for a one-year major league contract for a player not yet eligible for arbitration who wasnt coming to the big leagues from Japan or Cuba or wasnt required to have a larger amount because of the maximum cut rule. Ryan Howard earned $900,000 with Philadelphia in 2007 and Albert Pujols with St. Louis in 2003. Trout will become eligible for arbitration after this season and could become a free agent after the 2017 World Series. The sides are thought to be discussing an agreement through 2020 in the $150 million range. Trout wouldnt talk about the possibility of a multiyear contract. "I just go out there to play the game," he said. "If the money is where its at, thats where its going to be." By agreeing to a one-year contract now with the 22-year-old, the Angels avoid having a long-term deal count toward their 2014 luxury tax payroll. "Its a landmark to do a $1 million with a two-plus player," Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said. "I think its fitting and Mikes earned that and were glad to provide that for him." Trout was voted AL Rookie of the Year and finished second in MVP voting in 2012, when he hit .326 with 30 homers and 83 RBIs, and led the majors with 129 runs and 49 steals. He was second again to Detroits Miguel Cabrera in MVP voting last year, when he batted .323 with a .432 on-base percentage, 27 homers, 97 RBIs and 33 steals. "We thought his performance was exceptional," Dipoto said. "There are players that force you to break rules. What he did for two consecutive years forced us to break our own rule. His performance certainly merited us to do differently than any of the others." Trout had a $482,500 salary as a rookie and earned a $10,000 bonus for winning Rookie of the Year. The Angels renewed his contract last year for $510,000 -- just $20,000 above the major league minimum at the time. "The Angels could have easily just done the same thing that they did last year," Trout said. "It makes you feel good inside. It makes you feel like they really want you here. It means a lot to me." NOTES: Because of the maximum cut rule, some players not eligible for arbitration have had higher salaries. Shortstop Jose Iglesias agreed to a deal with Detroit in January that pays $1.65 million while in the major leagues and $1,237,500 while in the minors. The major league base represents the maximum 20 per cent cut from the average of the $8.25 million, four-year deal he completed. Chris Morris Jersey . The Big 12 tournament champions found themselves in an early struggle with a program making its first NCAA tournament appearance in just its third year as a full-time Division I program. But the Cyclones quickness and balance eventually took over. Iowa State (27-7) had five players score in double figures. Niangs two 3-pointers early in the second half keyed Iowa States run that put the game away. After the game the Cyclones announced on Twitter: "Georges Niang has a foot fracture and will miss the remainder of the season." Jeremy Ingram scored 28 for North Carolina Central (28-6), which came in on a 20-game win streak and won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Matched up against a tournament newcomer, Iowa State players said they wouldnt look past the Eagles. As this years tournament has shown, hubris breeds upsets and the Cyclones werent taking any chances, especially after a first half in which the Eagles took an early lead and stayed within five at halftime. The Cyclones were wary of a team that dominated its league, even a lightly-regarded like the MEAC. The Eagles also had notched an upset win over North Carolina State and nearly took down Wichita State, the nations only undefeated team and the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Regional. Earlier in the day, North Carolina Central saw their neighbours from Durham, perennial power Duke, get knocked off by Mercer in one of the tournaments biggest upsets so far and ddreamed of making some magic of their own in their tournament debut. Caris LeVert Jersey. Iowa State tried to show some muscle at the start when the Cyclones opened the scoring with an alley-oop reverse dunk by Melvin Ejim. If it was a play meant to scare the Eagles, it didnt work. North Carolina Central opened the game with a flurry of 3-pointers and put bodies on the Cyclones on every rebound. Karamo Jawara scored 10 points in the first half and tied it 30-30 on a soft jumper. Iowa State appeared to get the game under control with an 8-0 run punctuated by Ejims fast break dunk. The Eagles rallied with a 9-2 run of their own before Iowa State took a 45-39 lead into halftime. North Carolina Central simply couldnt sustain it. Over 40 minutes, the Cyclones were just too fast, too strong and too balanced. There were just too many Cyclones doing too many things. Ejim, the Big 12 player of the year, scored 17 points. DeAndre Kane, the MVP of the Big 12 tournament, scored 14 with seven rebounds and five assists. Dustin Hogue and Monte Morris each scored 15. In one sequence, Hogue ripped a rebound out of the arms of an Eagles player, passed to Monte Morris, who whipped the ball to Ejim for a another dunk. And then there was Niang, whose 3-pointers pushed Iowa States lead to 11 early in the second half. Niang made four of Iowa States nine 3-pointers. North Carolina Central coach LeVelle Moton should have at least had a chance to enjoy some of his big week. But two days after the NCAA tournament bracket was announced, Bracketts 1-year-old son was hospitalized with burns after a coffee spill accident and his family didnt make the trip with him to San Antonio. Ryan Arcidiacono added 10 points as five players had between five and eight for the Wildcats (18-2, 5-2 Big East), who shook off a rare 20-point loss against Georgetown on Monday. James Milliken scored 13 points to pace Creighton (9-12, 0-8), which remained winless in league play and has matched a program record with nine straight losses. Villanova locked down over the first 20 minutes and just about put the game out of reach by halftime. Creighton had nearly as many turnovers (12) as points (14) at the break, and would have had more if it wasnt for Avery Dingmans 3 just before the buzzer. No Bluejay had more than one field goal or three points at halftime. The Wildcats scored the games first 15 points. Creighton countered with the next six, then went cold again. Hilliard hit a pair of 3s during a 10-0 run late in the half that made it 29-11 before Dingmans trey cut the deficit to 15 at intermission. LA (SportsNetwork.PRETORIA, South Africa -- Oscar Pistorius defence team called an anesthetist to testify at the double-amputee runners murder trial Thursday in an attempt to counter prosecution claims that Pistorius is lying about the timeline of events on the night he killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Prof. Aina Christina Lundgren was being questioned on her expertise regarding how long it takes a person to digest food after eating. The testimony relates to an autopsy report on Steenkamps body that said she still had food in her stomach after she was killed by Pistorius, leading prosecutors to challenge his story that the couple last ate around eight hours before he shot her through a toilet door. An expert testifying for the prosecution said a persons stomach is normally empty of food six hours after eating and Steenkamp ate much later on the night of the killing and not in line with Pistorius story. Prosecutors say thats because the couple were up arguing late into the night before Pistorius shot Steenkamp multiple times in the midst of a heated fight through a toilet stall door in his bathroom. Pistorius says he mistook her for an intruder hiding behind the closed toilet stall door. He testified the couple had dinner at around 7 p.m. on the night she was killed, and they were in bed around 10 p.m. Pistorius shot Steenkamp after 3 a.m. on Feb. 14, 2013. Lundgren, who described herself as a specialist anesthetist, testified that there are a number of factors that could have delayed the digestion process in Steenkamp to explain the food found in her stomach, including that she was a pre-menopausal woman and had been sleeping. Lundgren was presented by the defence to try and undermine the testimony of pathologgist Prof. Dallas Cowboys Shirts. Gert Saayman, who said it was his opinion that Steenkamp ate much later than Pistorius says, possibly even at around 1 a.m. when the runner claims they were in bed. Lundgren said it was difficult to be exact about the rate of digestion and it was "speculative to attempt to estimate when she had last eaten." Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel cross-examined Lundgren and pointed to Saaymans findings that he could even identify vegetable and cheese matter in Steenkamps stomach. "Would you not have expected the digestive process to have caused the contents to be unrecognizable after eight hours?" Nel asked Lundgren. "I cant comment," she replied. "But he can, and he did," Nel said of Saaymans report. The state pathologist was present in the courtroom and Nel asserted that his evidence was "more probable." Replying to Nels questions, Lundgren said she was a clinician and unwilling to criticize Saayman, a pathologist. However, later on re-examination by chief defence lawyer Barry Roux, she said she did not agree with Saaymans assertion that Steenkamp ate at 1 a.m. or after. Pistorius lawyers also said in a statement Thursday that an offer to buy the villa where the Olympian killed Steenkamp had been accepted and the sale of the house was being processed. Pistorius is selling his home in the gated community in the South African capital Pretoria to help with his legal bills. His trial is now into its seventh week of testimony. Lawyer Brian Webber said they would not identify who was buying the house or the amount it was being sold for until the sale was finalized. Pistorius last year valued the house at about $450,000. SAN ANTONIO -- Unable to comfortably separate from the young Toronto Raptors, the San Antonio Spurs turned to a proven finishing formula - Tony Parker driving for layups when he wasnt kicking the ball to open teammates on the perimeter. Parker had 26 points and eight assists and San Antonio beat Toronto 112-99 Monday night. "We won that game because of Tony Parkers aggressiveness," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "His juice; his aggression all night long. And we made some 3s in the fourth quarter. Those are the two reasons we won the game." Parker had eight points and three assists in the final quarter, committing just one turnover in 9 minutes. "A win is a win," Parker said. "Theyve been playing well, the Raptors. They had a big win in (Oklahoma City) and they made it hard on us." Coming off a 104-98 victory over the Thunder on Sunday, the Raptors got within three or less on numerous occasions in the second half, but couldnt complete the rallies against the Spurs. "It was a superior team, I think, first of all," Toronto coach Dwane Casey said. "You talk about one of the top teams in the West. Talking to the Oklahoma City coach, they feel the same way about how tough San Antonio is." Toronto trailed 57-56 after DeMar DeRozans 3 with 9:22 left in the third quarter, but Parker and Tim Duncan combined for eight points to rebuilding San Antonios lead to 67-59. In his second game off the bench after starting the Spurs first 26 games, Danny Green hit a pair of 3s to put San Antonio up 90-80 with just under 8 minutes remaining. Green was 4 for 6 on 3-pointers in scoring 14 points for the Spurs (21-7). "I didnt bench him because he wasnt making shots," Popovich said. "You dont bench people because theyre not making shots. We changed the look and changed the rotation a little bit. It could change again." The change helped San Antonio overcome a Toronto team that had gone 4-2 since trading leading scorer Rudy Gay to Sacramento on Dec. 9. Kyle Lowry and Terrence&nnbsp;Ross had 23 points each and DeRozan added 13 points for the Raptors (11-15). Brandon Jennings Jersey. Ross was 3 for 6 on 3s and 10 for 16 overall. Toronto kept pace despite giving up 16 offensive rebounds, being outscored 52-36 in the paint and allowing San Antonio to score a season-high 24 second-chance points. The Raptors also had 13 turnovers. "That was the kicker," Casey said. "That was difference in the game, our turnovers and the defensive glass. We didnt do a good job of turning and finding the body and thats mental fatigue. We had been doing a good job of keeping people off the glass and attacking the basket, but youre not talking about chopped liver in San Antonio. They are going to be in the money at the end of the season." The bench again provided San Antonio a lift, with Ginobili and Patty Mills each hitting a 3 as the reserves outscored their peers 18-2 in the second quarter. Ginobilis 3 gave the Spurs their largest lead at 52-43 with 2:20 remaining in the half. Still, Toronto closed a three-game road trip with victories over Oklahoma City and the Dallas Mavericks. "Were happy with it, we wanted to be greedy and get 3-0, but 2-1 against these three teams is pretty good, well take it," Lowry said. NOTES: DeRozan was assessed a technical foul with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter for continuing to argue a continuation call against him after official Lauren Holtkamp warned him, "Thats enough." .
